Brute Thriller
* Hey brother. I'm the Brute, big brother Brute! And welcome to the Homeheader and I'll be your temporary guide, friend, specially for this floating thing. Anyway, I've like you to continue to follow my words or just simply neglect me forever, but if I were you, I should be that guy.... so uhh, how do I start this.... ah ha! You can start by checking out our rules and manual on how to be respectful and edit respectively. Simple right?

Medieval is a special gamemode where all players are restricted to using melee weapons or weapons that fit in a medieval setting, with some noticeable exceptions. It can be played within the 'Gamemodes' section in the server browser.

Currently, there are only 2 official maps that use Medieval, which are Hungry and Sword Fight on the Heights. The concept of the gamemode uses King of the Hill, where players have to capture a single control point in the middle of the map which will result in a 3 minutes clock countdown upon its capture.

Like KOTH, If the enemy team successfully captures the point, the team's clock will freeze while the other team's clock starts counting down. Overtime will occur if one team's clock elapses while the other is attempting to capture the point.

Unlike other gamemodes, every damage-dealing weapon is granted a hidden stat where small health kits will drop from killed players, and Dead Ringer corpses will leave behind a false health kit that does nothing.

Allowed Weapons

  • All melee weapons are allowed, but aside from those, players may use the following:

Tips

Hungry Tips

  • Lighting up the Huntsman's arrows using the torches inside the castle and near the point can be practical for dealing that extra damage needed to kill light classes and Doctors with afterburn.
  • Pairing the Boxing Gloves with the Tenacious Turkey can be a unique combo for an offensive push due to the inherently cramped nature of the control point.
  • Using the Amputator, use the AOE taunt to heal multiple players near or on the point at once due to the Doctor's lack of a Medigun and limited one-at-a-time healing of the Syringe Crossbow.
  • Immediately go to the houses to take shelter after taking damage, they contain medium health kits in them.

Sword Fight on the Heights Tips

  • Even without the fall damage, You still need items that can slow your fall (i.e. Mercy Kill and Parabomber) due to the huge openings between most of the map locations.
  • The green buttons function like large medkits that heals 100% of the individual class' max health, use these to heal when low. Note that these have relatively long cooldowns, so you cannot spam them.

Class Tips

Flanker

  • Equipping the Six Point Shuriken can give you a ranged option against enemies that are too tanky or fast to kill like Brute and Annihilator.
  • Brooklyn Basher and Grill Scout are viable choices for damage in close range due to their functionality of bleed and afterburn.
  • Ambush light classes like Agents, Marskmen, and Doctors for a more advantageous fight compared to tankier ones.
  • Mad Milk is great for the conversion of damage to health, use this when defending/attacking the point with multiple people.

Trooper

  • Equip the banners so that you can use the passives and rage to the fight or when capturing the point.
    • Buff Banner is mostly underwhelming but can be used when the enemy team is pushing towards the control point.
    • Battalion's Backup is good for tanking much more damage from ranged or melee weapons with the 30+ max health and damage resistance on a Rage use.
    • Concheror's passive effect and rage can make The Trooper an all-rounder class with combination of close-range offense, alright defense and arguably the best support in the mode.
  • Due to the damage boost that increases even more when taking damage, Equalizer is a great choice when directly fighting enemies depending on your own health.
  • Furious Flagxe is an almost direct upgrade over the stock Crowbar, mainly because of its use to capture the control point faster and having a faster movement speed.

Arsonist

  • Escapist's Escapade sounds good due to its increased movement speed and even more when hitting on an enemy, but essentially trades speed for damage and resistances. Due to the damage penalty and effectively permanent damage vulnerability, it is not a great choice in general.
  • Improvised Innovator is mostly perfect for offense due to the damage boost and health kits receiving more health than usual.
  • Mending Mallet is not a bad choice because of the 50% health restoration on kill, but the user needs to be practical when attacking due to the slower swinging speed penalty.
  • The Fire Extinguisher is a relatively underwhelming choice because of its lack of offensive stats. It makes up for this with an okay defense by being able to remove debuffs, but is still an overall bad weapon, as Lemonade and Mark for Death spell a quick death for your teammates due to them already being in melee range in most situations.

Annihilator

  • Use trimping to get across maps easily.
  • The Black Death is useful to make the player more buffed regarding the souls received but do note that you can still die in exactly three hits from most melee weapons.
  • The Ragin' Bull should be useful to get crits for your melee weapon, but make sure to predict where your opponent's supposed position should be.
    • Combining this with the Shock and Awe is the ultimate combo for effectively nuking a control point and being guaranteed to kill at least one player due to the explosion also dealing crit damage.

Brute

  • The Warrior's Spirit is a substitute for the Boxing Gloves, boasting the highest base damage and range of the Brute's melee weapons.
  • The Tenacious Turkey is commonly used in the gamemode when it gives mini-crits for melee weapons and boosts the Brute's movement speed by 35% under the effects. Though, you have to quickly find enemies to kill or else you'll be met the aftereffects of being much slower than before.
    • The Eviction Notice's attack interval reduction acts as an almost direct upgrade to the stock Fists when paired with the above.

Mechanic

  • Place a teleporter on a spot to help your team to ambush the enemy team.
  • Combining the Gunslinger with the Heavy Metal can allow Mechanic to just barely outrun almost every class when injured.

Doctor

  • The Syringe Crossbow is an all-rounder, almost perfect to healing injured teammates and dealing damage against targets on range.
  • Dairy Douser is a good pick due to the Mad Milk debuff application on hit, but do mind that it can only extinguish burning teammates and reloads 20% slower.
  • Both Mercy Kill and Overdrive are severely good passive weapons with exchange of the player's ranged primary.
  • The Saw is a great melee choice for an offensive Doctor as it effectively grants you an almost full heal on a kill thanks to the increased healing from medkits and having two medkits to heal from instead of one.

Marksman

  • The Huntsman is a common choice to use, especially since it's particularly the only primary weapon on the whitelist.
  • Lemonade is effectively a death sentence to whoever it coats. Use this against big groups or tankier enemies, such as a Katana-wielding Anniknight.

Agent

  • Trickstabs are your greatest friend in this gamemode. Fake out and surprise your enemies into showing their back whenever possible.
  • Dead Ringer is a better option out of the other cloak watches, being able to fake your own death should be enough to escape from opponents dueling you.
  • Conniver's Kunai and Swift Stiletto are viable, normally because of the upsides that give a lot of survivability.
