The Shortstop is a primary weapon for the Flanker. It is a polished type of the double-action COP .357 Derringer pistol that holds shotgun shells instead of ranged bullets.

It has a -33% clip size penalty that reduces its size down to 4 shots from 6, however users can use to fire 40% faster compared to the default Lever Shotgun. It is 40% more accurate than stock, making it much easier to take down sentries from mid-long range. However, it deals 20% less damage and has 33% less rampup as a penalty.

In addition to these certain stats, the weapon replenishes 50% of any current recharging meter such as the Sandman or Witches Brew upon killing an enemy.

Demonstration

Tips

• The weapon's tighter spread and faster reload time compared to the Lever Shotgun mean that you can deal more reliable damage in prolonged combat. Four shots can kill most classes, but be careful when facing tougher classes, such as Brutes, as they may tank all four shots and kill you as you're reloading.
• Use the weapon with a rechargable secondary and melees like the Sandman or Wrap Assassin to get the most out of the 50% refill on kill.
• The Witches Brew is a great pair with the Shortstop, as the weapon's faster rate of fire maximizes your ability to deal mini-crits. However, be mindful that the subsequent Mark for Death allows you to be seen through walls, so charging in recklessly when enemies know you're coming will get you killed quickly.
• The Mad Milk is a good option to take with the Shortstop; it will allow you to sustain yourself in a firefight and rewards you with recharging your Mad Milk meter more quickly.
• This weapon is excellent at destroying sentry guns at mid-range due to the increased accuracy. A mini-sentry goes down in one clip and normal Sentry Guns take severe damage due to the weapon's higher accuracy at range.
• It's best to use this weapon in situations where close quarters combat will not be as viable due to the open nature of the map, such as Orange, Yellow Valley and Upward.
• Make good use of the Shortstop's entire clip reload, this can make using a Pistol not as mandatory and prevent missing shots while trying to reload a shotgun, making other secondary weapons more viable.

Trivia

• This weapon was the replacement of the Hand Cannon, another weapon based off Team Fortress 2's Shortstop. It had 6 shots and was a revolver.
• Even though the Shortstop is a pepper gun, the Flanker reloads it like a pistol as a placeholder animation.
• The model was originated from this free model called Shortstop (TF2).
